Are You Ready to WFH?

Whaaat??  Work from home, silly!  Are you ready?   I love it and I believe you will too.  Read on for a few of my tricks.

1. Set a time to go to the “office” before you lose your motivation.
   
2. Pretend like you’re going to the office.  The mental association is a game changer.  Plus it keeps you from going back to bed!
3. Structure your day.  Schedule your day and create reminders of what you need to do.  My desk calendar is a life saver!
   
4. Have a dedicated work space. Don’t use things you envision with leisure activities, like your couch, or work won’t get done and we know what happens then.
   
5. Work when you’re most productive.  I’m a late morning kind of gal but my teammates like to get started early.  To capitalize on your most productive hours save your harder tasks when you know your head will be in it.  Use the slower times for the easier “small acts of success”. 
   
6. Use technology to stay connected.  Working from home can be isolating so be sure to check in with associates through online chats or videos.  But don’t let that distract you from your work! 
   
7. Communicate with your family and friends.  Let everyone know up front what’s expected and respect your work time.  You may be working from home but you’re not at home.
8. Take breaks!  Just because you are at home doesn’t mean you don’t need to step away every now and then.  A clear head means better concentration on the task at hand.
   
9. Have a set quitting time.  Don’t lose track of time and think you can keep working because you’re at home.  You have to call it quits sometime.
   
10. Interact with other humans!  Get out for lunch (my favorite) or talk a few minutes with a neighbor at the mailbox.  It’s good to see other people when most of your day is solitary.
